April 08, 2025 (MLN): The United States has expressed strong interest in expanding commercial opportunities for its companies, particularly eyeing the critical minerals sector to build resilient supply chains.

In a recent phone call with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized the importance of strengthening economic ties between the two nations.

The two leaders addressed the ongoing bilateral trade relationship, including reciprocal tariffs, and explored ways to move toward a fair and balanced trade framework, according to the press release issued today.

The conversation also featured high praise for Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio thanked Pakistan for its swift action in arresting and transferring ISIS-K operative Mohammad Sharifullah.

He also highlighted the importance of Pakistan’s cooperation in law enforcement and efforts to address illegal immigration, as per the press release.

Looking ahead, Secretary Rubio and Deputy Prime Minister Dar expressed a shared commitment to collaborate on global challenges during Pakistan’s current two-year term as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, which began on January 1.
