Trading activity at PMEX jumps by nearly 38.4% DoD

May 24, 2024 (MLN): The trading activity at the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX) surged by 38.4% DoD on Thursday to clock in at Rs27.8 billion compared to the previous session's Rs20.09bn.

Similarly, the number of lots traded soared to 21,757, compared to the 17,241 traded in the previous session.

The commodity exchange closed at 10,831, down by 0.86% DoD.

Gold remained in the limelight, contributing significantly to the trading volume with transactions worth Rs17.37bn. Following closely behind, Currencies through COTS recorded trading valued at Rs1.93bn.

Silver also made a prominent spot, clocking in at Rs1.49bn. In addition, Nasdaq 100, Crude Oil and Platinum attracted substantial attention from investors, and their transactions stood at around Rs3.12bn, Rs1.36bn, and Rs1.16bn, respectively.

Moreover, Natural Gas transactions reached Rs303.35m, DJ at Rs263.64m, Copper at Rs177.84m, S&P 500 at Rs210.55m and Brent at Rs44.28m.

In the agricultural commodities segment, Cotton saw active trading, with 142 lots amounting to Rs249m changing hands.
