Tractor production decreases 29.18% in 7 month of FY 2018-19

March 15, 2019: Tractor production in the country during first seven months of current financial year witnessed 29.18 percent as compared the corresponding period of last year.

According the provisional quantum index numbers of Large Scale Manufacturing Industries (LSM), during the period from July-January, 2018-19 27,644 tractor were locally assembled as against the production 39,033 tractor of same period of last year.

On month on month basis, local tractor production also remained on down track as 1,675 tractor were assembled in January, 2019 as compared 6,419 tractors of same month of last year, it added.

Meanwhile, local production of trucks also came down by 20.88 percent as during last seven months about 4,255 trucks were manufactured as compared the 39,033 trucks of same period of last year.

During the month of January this year, 504 trucks were locally manufactured as against the production of 864 trucks of corresponding month of last year, it added.

However, the data reveled that local assembling of buses grew by 32.41 percent as about 576 buses were manufactured in last seven months as against the production of 435 buses of same period of last year.

In January, 2019 about 61 buses were locally produced as compared the production of 26 buses of same moth of last year, the data added.

Meantime, jeeps and cars production in last seven months of current financial year witnessed about 1.73 percent growth and about 138,514 jeeps and cars were manufactured as against the production of 136,159 cars and jeeps produced in the corresponding period of last year.

During the period under review, the local assembling of light commercial vehicles reduced by 11.51 percent whereas motorcycles by 9.39 percent respectively.

About 15,561 light commercial vehicles were produced during last seven months as compared the production of 51,561, whereas motor cycles production were recorded at 1,485,416 as against the production of 1,639,372, it added.
