Third major power breakdown hits Karachi, water supply suspended

The third major breakdown occurred at Dhabeji pumping station on Friday, causing severe water shortage in the metropolis.

The water supply to different parts of Karachi was suspended as the main 72 inch diameter pipeline burst from two points at the station due to the power breakdown.

The mishap has also created dearth of 150 million gallon water that further irked locals who demanded the authorities to take action for its recovery.

On the other hand, at least 11 people, including two children, were killed in various rain-related incidents in different localities of Karachi in two days.

15-year-old boy was electrocuted in Liaquatabad area while a 30-year-old man was electrocuted to death in Sea Area of Liaquatabad-B Area.

Separately, a 50-year-old man died in Shah Faisal Colony due to electrocution. Two children died in Punjab Colony area while taking bath at the site of an under construction under-pass.

At least six people were killed in rain-related incidents in different parts of Karachi on Wednesday.
