December 05, 2024 (MLN): Operations at the Pakistan International Bulk Terminal (PSX: PIBT) have continued unabated despite a fire incident on November 19, 2024, which caused considerable damage to some terminal infrastructure. the company's filing on PSX was revealed today.

Swift action by PIBT ensured that alternate arrangements were made to maintain cargo discharge operations, minimizing customer disruption.

The fire, which occurred during the discharge of a coal cargo, temporarily affected the terminal's efficiency and may unfortunately cause a delay in discharging the cargo.

"PIBT is endeavouring its best to manage the smooth discharge of the cargo and is hopeful that the operations of PIBT's Terminal will return to its customary form and speed within December 2024," the notice reads.

Yesterday, in a notification to its customers, the company disclosed that inquiries are being conducted by the appointed surveyors to ascertain the actual cause of the fire.

The company emphasized that this unfortunate incident occurred without any fault on PIBT’s part, despite its best efforts to ensure safety at the terminal.
