Sindh government imposes complete lockdown in karachi till August 8

July 30, 2021 (MLN):  Considering the ongoing situation of Covid-19 in Sindh wherein the highly transmissible Delta variant of the virus fuels the spread of the pandemic, government of Sindh has decided to impose strict lockdown in Karachi till August 8, 2021.

This was decided in a meeting, held today, chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah of the coronavirus task force to mull further restrictions in the metropolitan city.

The said lockdown will come into effect from July 31, 2021 (tomorrow).

During the meeting, it was also decided that government offices will be closed from next week. Moreover, unvaccinated government employees will not be able to get their salary after August 31. The meeting further ordered to check vaccination cards of every citizen on the roads/streets.  Inter-city transport will also be suspended from July 31, 2021.

With regards to business activities, the provincial authorities have decided to close all the markets during lockdown period except pharmacies. However, the export industry will remain operational.
