September 02, 2024 (MLN): Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) is giving priority to the transparent privatization of government departments as per international standards, the Information Ministry reported.
In the first phase, PIA, DISCOs, First Women Bank and others are being privatized with the support of SIFC.
Apart from the financial deficit, the total liabilities of PIA have increased from Rs200 billion to Rs830bn.
According to the data released by the government, the DISCOs have incurred a loss of over Rs376bn.
By reducing this deficit from the national exchequer through transparent privatization, the government can take more measures for public welfare.
