March 13, 2023 (MLN): Shaza Fatima Khawaja took charge as Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication of Pakistan, according to a press statement issued on Tuesday.

On arriving at the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication, she was warmly welcomed by Secretary of IT and Telecommunication Hassan Nasir Jamy, Additional Secretary MoITT Aisha Humera Moriani, and other senior officers of the Ministry.

Later, she was given a detailed briefing about the working of the Ministry of IT and Telecom and its attached departments, and projects.

She started her political career as a candidate of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) on a reserved seat for women from Punjab in the Pakistani general election, in 2013.

Later in October 2017, she was appointed as the parliamentary secretary for the Ministry of Trade, Commerce, and Textile and the Vice President of the Young Parliamentarians Forum of the National Assembly.

As the Chairperson of the Prime Minister's Youth Programme, she had the lead role in implementing his vision by planning, strategizing and executing initiatives for youth of Pakistan under a 4Es framework; Employment, Education, Engagement and Environment.

She was re-elected to the National Assembly as a candidate of the PML-N on a reserved seat for women in the Pakistani general election, 2018.

Shaza Fatima Khawaja continued her political journey as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs in the federal cabinet of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with the rank of Minister of State.
