Senate Committee rejects the reversal of ban on non-filers' purchase of car and property

September 27, 2018 (MLN): The Senate Standing Committee on Finance has rejected the proposal to end the ban on non-filers’ purchase of cars and property, during a meeting held today under the chairmanship of Senator Farooq H. Naiq.

Previously in the mini budget, the government approved the proposal to reverse ban on purchase of cars and properties by non-filers, in order to facilitate the overseas Pakistanis, and had received severe backlash from the opposition

However, since the government could not provide a supplementary justification for this decision, the issue could not be proceeded with further and the senate committee on finance rejected the decision, today.

The Committee expressed disappointment at the absence of FBR Chairman and Minister of State for Revenue, Hammad Azhar.
