SBP reserves fall $252m on external payment

February 13, 2025 (MLN): The foreign exchange reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) decreased by $251.7 million or 2.20% WoW to $11.17 billion during the week ended on February 07, 2025, data released by State Bank of Pakistan showed on Thursday.

The decrease in SBP reserves is attributed to the external debt repayments.

Similarly, the country's total reserves decreased by $181.5m or 1.13% WoW to $15.86bn.

The reserves held by commercial banks rose by $70.2m or 1.52% WoW to $4.7bn.

In the current fiscal year, SBP-held reserves have increased by $1.78bn or 18.93%.

Meanwhile, the current calendar year has seen a decrease of $543.9m or -4.64%.
