SBP Governor urges banks to focus on agriculture financing

February 6, 2019: Governor State Bank Tariq Bajwa has urged banks to understand the needs of the economy and focus on agriculture financing.
In an interview, the SBP Governor said banks have met their agriculture credit target in 2018-19 and also achieved 43 percent of the indicative target for the current fiscal year.
He said this reflects thriving business and huge cash flows in the agriculture sector.
Tariq Bajwa said banks should rationalise lending rates for the agriculture sector.
