November 13, 2018 (MLN): In the course of first four months of current fiscal year 2018-19, total production of buses and trucks (3 thousand units) have come down by 14%, when compared to the production of these vehicles a year earlier (3.6 thousand).
Instinctively, the cumulative sales of buses and trucks (2.7 thousand units) have slipped by 16%, as compared to the last year’s sales (3.2 thousand units), revealed official records released by Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA).
A breakdown of the total figure shows us that while truck sales (2.4 thousand, down by 19.3%) remained in line with the direction of total sales’ growth, the cumulative bus sales (310 units) grew by 19.7% over the year, for these four months.
Although, exclusively October’s sales have decreased by 10.5% for trucks, when compared to last year’s October, bus sales have remained unaffected from prior year.
On the other hand, when paralleled with previous month’s sales, truck sales have marked a decent improvement of 14% while bus sales tipped by the same margin.
