Repatriation of profit plunges by 80.44% YoY in 11MFY23

June 27, 2023 (MLN): Repatriation of profit and dividends by foreign investors plummeted by around 80.44% YoY in 11MFY23 to $313.1 million compared to $1.60 billion in the same period last year, the latest data issued by the central bank revealed.

The data further revealed that during the period, foreign companies repatriated $257.2m worth of profit against the foreign direct investments (FDI) in various businesses compared to $1.44bn in SPLY, marking a plunge of around 82.22% YoYin 11MFY23.

While the outflow as payment against portfolio investment stood at $55.9m, compared with $153.3m in the same period a year earlier, witnessing a drop of 63.54% YoY in 11MFY23.

In the month of May 2023, repatriation of profits and dividends by foreign firms stood at $59.7m, marking an increase of 1.20x MoM, with respect to $20.2m in April 2023.
