PSX Closing Bell: Up to Par

February 26, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index closed Monday's trading session at 63,305.93 showing an increase of 490.12 points or 0.78%.

The positivity comes amid further clarity on the political front, coupled with strong corporate results.

KSE-100 index remained positive throughout the session showing an intraday high of 63,732.50 (+916.69) and a low of 62,915.39 (+99.58) points.

The total volume of the index was 221.45 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 71 closed up, 25 closed down, 1 was unchanged, while 3 remained untraded.

KSE-100 index was supported by Commercial Banks with 193.6, Technology & Communication with 61.19, Cement with 35.21, Power Generation & Distribution with 33.08, and Refinery with 30.61 points.

On the contrary, the index was let down by Miscellaneous with 34.3, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 8.23, Food & Personal Care Products with 6.54, Close - End Mutual Fund with 2.84, and Cable & Electrical Goods with 1.05 points.

Companies adding points to the index were POL with 41.25, MEBL with 33.99, SYS with 29.74, BAFL with 29.11, and HUBC with 28.58 points.

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were PSEL with 29.8, NESTLE with 22.91, PPL with 17.58, DAWH with 12.79 and GHGL with 7.71 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 42,361 with a net gain of 232 points.

Total market volume was 452.869 million shares compared to 377.974 from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs16.49 billion showing an increase of Rs0.48bn.

There were 194,545 trades reported in 345 companies with 207 closing up, 114 closing down and 24 remaining unchanged.
