August 26, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Monday's trading session at 78,571.05, showing a decrease of 230.37 points or 0.29%.
The index traded in a range of 606.53 points showing an intraday high of 79,160.39 (+358.97) and a low of 78,553.86 (-247.56) points.
The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 141.27 million shares.
Of the 100 index companies 35 closed up, 63 closed down, while 2 remained untraded.
Top losers during the day were ABOT (-9.53%), YOUW (-8.15%), BNWM (-7.03%), SRVI (-5.99%), and PSX (-3.82%).
On the other hand, top gainers were GLAXO (+10%), HUBC (+5.55%), BIPL (+4.43%), IBFL (+4.26%), and HINOON (+4.07%).
Hub Power Company Limited (PSX: HUBC) reported its earnings for the year ended June 2024, recording a 9.5% rise in its profitability. It made a profit after tax of Rs33.88 billion [EPS: Rs26.12] compared to Rs30.94bn [EPS: Rs23.85] in the previous year.
Along with the results, the company announced a final cash dividend of Rs8.50 per share.
In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were HBL (-93.92pts), UBL (-56.59pts), ABOT (-51.52pts), ENGRO (-48.62pts), and SRVI (-44.04pts).
Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were HUBC (+252.59pts), GLAXO (+30.73pts), HINOON (+23.76pts), DAWH (+18.98pts), and SEARL (+9.17pts).
Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Commercial Banks (-224.50pts), Fertilizer (-93.44pts), Cement (-71.67pts), Leather & Tanneries (-44.04pts), and Automobile Assembler (-33.70pts).
While the index was supported by Power Generation & Distribution (+278.44pts), Pharmaceuticals (+17.28pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+10.67pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+4.13pts), and Food & Personal Care Products (+2.55pts).
In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 50,598.47 with a net loss of 162.86 points or 0.32%.
Total market volume was 512.34 million shares compared to 682.41m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs18.89 billion showing an increase of Rs0.73bn.
There were 229,227 trades reported in 433 companies with 150 closing up, 242 closing down, and 41 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 126 points or 0.16% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 16,120 points, equivalent to 25.81%.
