April 10, 2023 (MLN): The local bourse on Monday witnessed selling pressure mainly due to the prolonged delay in the IMF tranche and political noise which forced the benchmark KSE-100 index to lose 213.75 points to close at 39,835.90.

The Index traded in a range of 368.24 points of the previous close, showing an intraday high of 40,183.81 and a low of 39,815.57.

Of the 92 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 32 closed up 58 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 34.50 million shares.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Cement with 39 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 37 points, Technology & Communication with 35 points, Miscellaneous with 31 points and Commercial Banks with 27 points.

The most points taken off the index was by PSEL which stripped the index of 35 points followed by SYS with 28 points, HBL with 24 points, HUBC and OGDC with 19 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Chemical with 14 points, Insurance with 8 points, Food & Personal Care Products and Pharmaceuticals with 2 points and Modarabas with 1 point.

The most points added to the index were by EFERT which contributed 12 points followed by MCB with 9 points, EFUG with 8 points, BAHL with 6 points and LOTCHEM with 5 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 29.24mn to 105.89mn shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs28.77 billion.

The total companies traded were 297 compared to 301 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 104 closed up, 174 closed down and 19 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 22,227 to 37,650.

Value Traded decreased by 1.37bn to Rs1.84bn.
