PSX Closing Bell: Slow Ride

May 12, 2023 (MLN): The local bourse experienced a volatile trading session which led the benchmark KSE-100 index to gain 161.95 points to close at 41,487.58.

The Index traded in a range of 358.11 points of the previous close, showing an intraday high of 41,653.16 and a low of 41,295.05.

Of the 91 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 60 closed up 28 closed down, while 3 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 50.19 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 55 points, Cement with 49 points, Paper & Board with 13 points, Chemical with 11 points and Food & Personal Care Products with 10 points.

The most points added to the index was by DAWH which contributed 55 points followed by LUCK with 23 points, PKGS with 15 points, CHCC and SYS with 13 points.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 28 points, Pharmaceuticals and Commercial Banks with 4 points and Power Generation & Distribution with 3 points.

The most points taken off the index was by OGDC which stripped the index of 12 points followed by PPL with 11 points and BAHL, UBL and HBL with 7 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 7.38mn to 89.47mn shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.23.28 Billion.

The total companies traded were 308 compared to 301 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 174 closed up, 107 closed down while 27 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 3,924 to 58,947.

Value Traded increased by 0.51bn to Rs3.40bn.
