PSX Closing bell: Rockets to All-Time High

June 04, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index reached a historic milestone on Wednesday, concluding the trading session at 121,798.86, showing an increase of 1,347.99 points or 1.12%.

It also surpassed the 121,000-point mark for the first time during intraday trading.

The index remained positive throughout the day, showing an intraday high of 121,882.47 (+1,431.60) and a low of 120,896.13 (+445.26) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 292.40 million shares.

This bullish momentum is driven by the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) recent approval of an $800 million financial assistance package for Pakistan under the Resource Mobilization Reform Program (Subprogram-II).

The package includes a $300m policy-based loan (PBL) and a $500m program-based guarantee (PBG), significantly boosting investor confidence.

Just a day earlier, on Tuesday, the PSX also recorded a historic closing, with the KSE-100 index ending at 120,450.87, its first-ever close above the 120,000-point level.

Of the 100 index companies 57 closed up, 41 closed down, while 2 were unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were NBP (+10.01%), FABL (+10.01%), PKGP (+10.00%), ABL (+6.70%), and AKBL (+6.52%).

On the other hand, top losers were NATF (-2.67%), HMB (-2.48%), ISL (-2.09%), INIL (-1.91%), and HINOON (-1.85%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were NBP (+165.10pts), BAHL (+129.03pts), SYS (+109.91pts), LUCK (+93.32pts), and MCB (+88.49pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were HMB (-37.37pts), POL (-15.25pts), NATF (-15.04pts), PSEL (-14.57pts), and SAZEW (-12.83pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Commercial Banks (+666.45pts), Technology & Communication (+138.76pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+135.98pts), Cement (+132.20pts), and Power Generation & Distribution (+110.10pts).

While the index was let down by Engineering (-16.06pts), Automobile Assembler (-11.92pts), Miscellaneous (-11.16pts), Food & Personal Care Products (-6.83pts), and Chemical (-4.59pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 76,028.52 with a net gain of 801.91 points or 1.07%.

Total market volume was 710.57 million shares compared to 578.16m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs35.21 billion showing an increase of Rs8.39bn.

There were 351,396 trades reported in 475 companies with 264 closing up, 170 closing down, and 41 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 43,354 points or 55.27% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 6,672 points or 5.80% so far this calendar year.
