PSX Closing Bell: Pullback

June 25, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index ended Tuesday's trading session at 77,940.58 showing a decrease of 291.52 points or 0.37%.

The index traded in a range of 632.24 points showing an intraday high of 78,541.22 (+309.12) and a low of 77,908.98 (-323.12) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 130.43 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 30 closed up, 65 closed down, while 5 were unchanged.

KSE-100 index was let down by Commercial Banks (201.87pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (71.44pts), Power Generation & Distribution (32.55pts), Textile Composite (13.75pts), and Automobile Parts & Accessories (11.08pts).

On the flip-side, the index was supported by Fertilizer (43.9pts), Food & Personal Care Products (15.99pts), Cement (5.78pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (4.68pts), and Sugar & Allied Industries (3.24pts).

Companies that dragged the index lower were MCB (74.32pts), OGDC (53.18pts), HUBC (37.16pts), BAHL (33.18pts), and PPL (31.89pts).

On the other hand, companies that added points to the index were ENGRO (59.18pts), UNITY (29.13pts), FATIMA (16.58pts), POL (12.9pts), and LUCK (11.3pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 49,247.06 with a net loss of 148.90 points.

Total market volume was 292.19 million shares compared to 385.18m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs11.41 billion showing a decrease of Rs4.04bn.

There were 157,639 trades reported in 432 companies with 144 closing up, 218 closing down and 70 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 36,488 points or 88.02% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 15,490 points, equivalent to 24.8%.
