August 23, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Friday's trading session at 78,801.42, showing a marginal increase of 8.01 points or 0.01%.

The index traded in a range of 413.92 points showing an intraday high of 79,173.94 (+380.53) and a low of 78,760.02 (-33.39) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 197.84 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 43 closed up, 53 closed down, while 4 were unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were AGP (+10.00%), ABOT (+10.00%), GLAXO (+10.00%), HINOON (+9.92%), and LCI (+8.24%).

On the other hand, top losers were YOUW (-10.76%), KTML (-5.56%), NRL (-4.14%), DAWH (-3.20%), and NBP (-2.97%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were UBL (+66.10pts), HINOON (+52.60pts), ABOT (+49.09pts), FFC (+39.84pts), and LCI (+33.62pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were DAWH (-49.90pts), LUCK (-33.32pts), HMB (-31.22pts), HUBC (-30.81pts), and ENGRO (-29.35pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Pharmaceuticals (+168.85pts), Chemical (+30.88pts), Commercial Banks (+28.04pts), Leather & Tanneries (+12.80pts), and Automobile Parts & Accessories (+9.97pts).

While the index was let down by Cement (-78.86pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-48.36pts), Refinery (-28.66pts), Automobile Assembler (-24.09pts), and Engineering (-19.37pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 50,761.33 with a net gain of 142.44 points or 0.28%.

Total market volume was 682.41 million shares compared to 804.26m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs18.17 billion showing an increase of Rs1.19bn.

There were 255,809 trades reported in 449 companies with 192 closing up, 197 closing down, and 60 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 356 points or 0.45% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 16,350 points, equivalent to 26.18%.
