August 19, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Monday's trading session at 77,830.34, showing a decrease of 214.96 points or 0.28%.

The index traded in a range of 815.42 points showing an intraday high of 78,382.04 (+336.74) and a low of 77,566.62 (-478.68) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 122.48 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 28 closed up, 64 closed down, while 8 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were YOUW (-14.26%), CEPB (-10.01%), ISL (-3.86%), LOTCHEM (-3.78%), and PTC (-3.70%).

On the other hand, top gainers were NCPL (+3.92%), KAPCO (+3.63%), BAHL (+3.38%), SCBPL (+3.34%), and NPL (+3.20%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were MARI (-83.51pts), MTL (-50.25pts), LUCK (-32.99pts), MCB (-27.85pts), and EFERT (-24.59pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were BAHL (+83.82pts), FFC (+31.54pts), HUBC (+24.26pts), PPL (+17.73pts), and SRVI (+16.56pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-52.10pts), Automobile Assembler (-49.60pts), Cement (-33.60pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (-29.17pts), and Technology & Communication (-24.68pts).

While the index was supported by Commercial Banks (+80.79pts), Power Generation & Distribution (+41.14pts), Leather & Tanneries (+16.56pts), Synthetic & Rayon (+1.99pts), and Real Estate Investment Trust (+0.53pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 49,869.82 with a net loss of 220.37 points or 0.44%.

Total market volume was 471.75 million shares compared to 600.72m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs16.92 billion showing a decrease of Rs4.16bn.

There were 238,834 trades reported in 441 companies with 115 closing up, 275 closing down, and 51 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has lost 615 points or 0.78% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 15,379 points, equivalent to 24.63%.
