July 19, 2021 (MLN): The capital market witnessed range-bound activity on Monday due to the absence of positive triggers before going in for the 3-day Eid holidays. At the end of the trading day, the benchmark KSE-100 index added a nominal 38.93 points to settle at 47,873.26 level.
According to the market closing note by Topline Securities, uncertainties regarding Pak-Afghan relations coupled with a depreciating rupee kept the market gains in check.
The Index traded in a range of 252.82 points or 0.53 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 48,004.54 and a low of 47,751.72.
Of the 98 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 54 closed up 43 closed down, while 1 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 108.55 million shares.
Sectors propping up the index were Miscellaneous with 33 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 29 points, Commercial Banks with 18 points, Automobile Assembler with 10 points and Paper & Board with 6 points.
The most points added to the index was by PSEL which contributed 33 points followed by SNGP with 25 points, MEBL with 12 points, FFC with 11 points and SSGC with 8 points.
Sector wise, the index was let down by Cement with 24 points, Technology & Communication with 14 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 13 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 6 points and Insurance with 5 points.
The most points taken off the index was by LUCK which stripped the index of 22 points followed by TRG with 21 points, ENGRO with 12 points, HBL with 11 points and BAFL with 9 points.
All Share Volume decreased by 27.60 Million to 320.98 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.18.03 Billion.
Total companies traded were 416 compared to 412 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 226 closed up, 174 closed down while 16 remained unchanged.
Total trades decreased by 4,259 to 117,661.
