March 20, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Thursday's trading session at 118,769.77, showing an increase of 795.75 points or 0.67%.

The index remained positive throughout the day showing an intraday high of 119,421.81 (+1,447.79) points.

This bullish run is primarily attributed to the optimism surrounding progress on the IMF program. Investors remain optimistic about the government's successful engagement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which is expected to unlock further financial support and policy reforms.

Positive signals regarding the government's commitment to tackling circular debt have strengthened investor sentiment, particularly in the energy and banking sectors have also charged bull to reach new highs.

In addition, expectations of further inflation decline are also fueling buying activity.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 401.60 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 47 closed up, 49 closed down, while 4 were unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were CNERGY (+9.47%), MARI (+8.99%), NRL (+6.66%), SYS (+5.29%), and NCPL (+3.69%).

On the other hand, top losers were BOP (-4.04%), POML (-4.01%), PIBTL (-2.99%), TRG (-2.53%), and KOSM (-2.38%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were MARI (+459.68pts), SYS (+165.25pts), FFC (+113.56pts), PPL (+58.07pts), and HUBC (+52.92pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were ENGROH (-71.25pts), UBL (-44.34pts), BAHL (-26.84pts), BOP (-22.46pts), and TRG (-20.93pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+544.10pts), Technology & Communication (+127.70pts), Fertilizer (+108.34pts), Refinery (+68.90pts), and Power Generation & Distribution (+58.12pts).

While the index was let down by Commercial Banks (-73.58pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-70.29pts), Textile Composite (-23.25pts), Transport (-8.80pts), and Paper, Board & Packaging (-5.70pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 73,626.28 with a net gain of 600.67 points or 0.82%.

Total market volume was 667.88 million shares compared to 544.20m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs38.53 billion showing an increase of Rs6.22bn.

There were 333,556 trades reported in 442 companies with 205 closing up, 176 closing down, and 61 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 40,325 points or 51.41% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 3,643 points or 3.16% so far this calendar year.
