May 05, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index closed Monday’s trading session at 114,102.23, down by 11.70 points or 0.01%. Investors remained cautious ahead of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) decision, which is expected to set the tone for market direction in the coming days.

The index traded in a range of 1,474.54 points, showing an intraday high of 114,552.20 (+438.27) and a low of 113,077.66 (-1,036.27) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 153.67 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 56 closed up, 40 closed down, 3 were unchanged, while 1 remained untraded.

Top losers during the day were PKGP (-5.98%), AKBL (-2.38%), UBL (-2.17%), ATLH (-2.14%), and PGLC (-2.14%).

On the other hand, top gainers were POML (+10.00%), AICL (+7.29%), KOHC (+5.79%), PIOC (+5.08%), and DGKC (+4.46%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were UBL (-157.61pts), OGDC (-65.10pts), PPL (-52.35pts), BAHL (-41.97pts), and HBL (-41.03pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were FFC (+129.38pts), DGKC (+43.19pts), FCCL (+34.59pts), PIOC (+34.55pts), and MLCF (+33.91pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Commercial Banks (-276.63pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-133.53pts), Power Generation & Distribution (-42.18pts), Pharmaceuticals (-30.68pts), and Technology & Communication (-30.19pts).

While the index was supported by Cement (+159.17pts), Fertilizer (+150.16pts), Automobile Assembler (+58.47pts), Insurance (+30.30pts), and Food & Personal Care Products (+26.90pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 71,104.21 with a net gain of 164.47 points or 0.23%.

Total market volume was 399.54 million shares compared to 372.36m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs19.85 billion showing a decrease of Rs3.43bn.

There were 231,132 trades reported in 452 companies with 240 closing up, 155 closing down, and 57 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 35,657 points or 45.46% during the fiscal year, whereas it has decreased 1,025 points or 0.89% so far this calendar year.
