PSX Closing Bell: Cashing In Big

June 03, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index closed at an all-time high of 120,450.87 on Tuesday, gaining 1,573.07 points, or 1.32%, compared to the previous session's close at 118,877.80.

The index remained positive throughout the day showing an intraday high of 120,693.83 (+1,816.03) and a low of 119,129.51 (+251.71) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 315.24 million shares.

This performance was driven by strong investor sentiment, largely fueled by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s statement that negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) regarding the upcoming federal budget had been successful.

On Monday, the Prime Minister stated that these talks had paved the way for a new phase of economic growth.

He emphasized that the government had stabilized the economy and would now focus on sustained development.

 

Of the 100 index companies 65 closed up, 31 closed down, while 4 were unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were NATF (+10.00%), PKGP (+10.00%), FABL (+10.00%), ISL (+9.69%), and INIL (+8.36%).

On the other hand, top losers were POML (-4.78%), HALEON (-2.32%), PABC (-1.73%), SRVI (-1.55%), and BNWM (-1.55%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were FFC (+187.01pts), HBL (+155.98pts), EFERT (+129.80pts), LUCK (+110.07pts), and BAHL (+107.96pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were SYS (-27.64pts), SRVI (-12.06pts), HALEON (-8.78pts), AKBL (-8.58pts), and ENGROH (-6.44pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Commercial Banks (+597.15pts), Fertilizer (+323.99pts), Cement (+174.69pts), Power Generation & Distribution (+129.15pts), and Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+103.69pts).

While the index was let down by Leather & Tanneries (-12.06pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-7.24pts), Technology & Communication (-4.65pts), Real Estate Investment Trust (-3.90pts), and Property (-2.95pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 75,226.61 with a net gain of 767.87 points or 1.03%.

Total market volume was 578.16 million shares compared to 497.94m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs26.83 billion showing an increase of Rs3.38bn.

There were 261,384 trades reported in 467 companies with 232 closing up, 187 closing down, and 48 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 42,006 points or 53.55% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 5,324 points or 4.62% so far this calendar year.
