March 26, 2025 (MLN): Riding on the much-awaited IMF staff-level agreement under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF), the bulls stormed back into the market on Wednesday.

As a result, the KSE-100 Index soared to 117,772.31, up by 1,139.15 points (+0.98%) compared to the previous close. 

The index remained positive throughout the day, showing an intraday high of 118,220.88 (+1,587.72). 

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 231.39 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 62 closed up, 33 closed down, while 5 were unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were UBL (+5.79%), PAKT (+4.68%), PPL (+4.22%), FATIMA (+3.86%), and OGDC (+3.82%).

On the other hand, top losers were PKGS (-4.93%), PABC (-3.55%), SRVI (-2.95%), KTML (-2.89%), and UPFL (-2.33%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were UBL (+355.37pts), OGDC (+183.17pts), PPL (+173.33pts), MEBL (+86.02pts), and MARI (+85.38pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were BAFL (-39.55pts), EFERT (-28.50pts), SRVI (-26.77pts), PKGS (-25.60pts), and LUCK (-19.21pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+456.92pts), Commercial Banks (+435.10pts), Power Generation & Distribution (+94.55pts), Cement (+62.00pts), and Pharmaceuticals (+35.83pts).

While the index was let down by Leather & Tanneries (-26.77pts), Paper, Board & Packaging (-25.60pts), Technology & Communication (-25.35pts), Miscellaneous (-13.56pts), and Food & Personal Care Products (-9.52pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 73,288.72 with a net gain of 761.71 points or 1.05%.

Total market volume was 356.73 million shares compared to 268.10m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs37.50 billion showing an increase of Rs18.04bn.

There were 232,477 trades reported in 436 companies with 204 closing up, 167 closing down, and 65 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 39,327 points or 50.13% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 2,645 points or 2.30% so far this calendar year.
