PM emphasizes timely attention to water, energy projects

June 03, 2025 (MLN): The need for enhanced water storage and energy generation has made projects like the Diamer-Bhasha Dam a top national priority, directed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

In a high-level meeting held in Islamabad to review progress on the Diamer-Bhasha Dam and other water reservoir projects, the Prime Minister issued clear instructions for the immediate removal of all obstacles hindering the construction process to ensure early completion of the dam.

He stressed the strategic importance of building new dams to enhance the country’s water storage capacity, guarantee adequate irrigation for agriculture, and mitigate the risk of floods, according to the press release issued.

Highlighting the link between water management and national prosperity, the Prime Minister pointed out that economic self-reliance hinges on affordable electricity and a robust agricultural sector, which can only be achieved through efficient water use and expanded storage infrastructure.

Projects like Diamer-Bhasha Dam should be completed on a priority basis, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed.
