PKR weakens by 12 paisa against USD

May 27, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) fell by 11.60 paisa or 0.04% against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 282.17 per USD, compared to previous closing of 282.06.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 282.5 and a low (ask) of 284.4

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 283.00 for buying and 284.30 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR rose 1.18 rupees or 0.37% against the Euro, closing at 320.17 compared to the previous value of 321.35.

Against the British Pound, PKR gained by 87.25 paisa or 0.23% to 381.84 compared to 382.71 a day ago.

The local unit appreciated 1.23 rupees or 0.36% against Swiss franc to close at 342.13.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value increased 1.10 paisa or 0.56% to close the session at 1.9636 versus 1.9746 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee appreciated 4.39 paisa or 0.11% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.22 from 39.26.

The local currency weakened by 2.89 paisa or 0.04% against Saudi Riyal to 75.23. While it deteriorated by 3.16 paisa or 0.04% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.82.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has decreased against the US Dollar by 3.83 rupees or 1.36%. While it has deteriorated 3.62 rupees or 1.28% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates remain unchanged at 11.13% and 11.38% respectively.
