February 06, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 1.23 paisa against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session as the currency settled the trade at PKR 279.42 per USD, compared to the previous session's closing of PKR 279.41 per USD.
The currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 279.7 and a low (ask) of 279.3.
In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.5 for buying and 281.25 for selling.
In comparison to major currencies, PKR gained 3.61 rupees against the Euro, closing at 300.49 compared to the previous value of 304.1.
The British Pound became cheaper by 5.56 rupees closing at 350.9 compared to 356.46 from a day ago.
The Swiss franc saw losses of 4.76 rupees, closing at 321.17 compared to 325.94 from the previous session.
Against the Japanese Yen, PKR gained 2.49 paisa, closing at 1.8814 versus 1.9063 a day ago.
The Chinese Yuan lost 6.81 paisa, closing at 38.85 against 38.92 from the previous session.
The Saudi Riyal closed at 74.51 with a gain of 0.53 paisa from its value of 74.51 a day ago.
The U.A.E Dirham increased in value by 0.75 paisa from 76.08 a day ago to 76.07.
During the current financial year, PKR has appreciated against the Dollar by 6.57 rupees or 2.35%. While the current calendar year has seen PKR appreciate by 2.44 rupees or 0.87%.
In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates rose 15 bps to 21.05% and 21.3%.
