PKR rises by 9 paisa against USD

May 23, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) strengthened by 9.07 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.97 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 282.06.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 282.05 and a low (ask) of 281.95.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 283 for buying and 284.15 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR fell 37.67 paisa or 0.12% against the Euro, closing at 319.74 compared to the previous value of 319.37.

Against the British Pound, PKR decreased by 1.36 rupees or 0.36% to 380.18 compared to 378.83 a day ago.

The local unit strengthened 73.06 paisa or 0.21% against Swiss franc to close at 341.25.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value rose 0.48 paisa or 0.24% to close the session at 1.9668 versus 1.9716 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee decreased 8.24 paisa or 0.21% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.23 from 39.15.

The local currency gained by 2.42 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 75.17. While it rose by 2.26 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.77.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has weakened against the US Dollar by 3.63 rupees or 1.29%. While it has decreased 3.42 rupees or 1.21% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 11.14% and 11.39%.
