PKR rises by 10 paisa against USD

May 29, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) rose by 10.40 paisa or 0.04% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 282.07 per USD, compared to previous closing of 282.17.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 282.5  and a low (ask) of 284.4

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 282.50 for buying and 284.40 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR strengthened 2.06 rupees or 0.64% against the Euro, closing at 318.10 compared to the previous value of 320.17.

Against the British Pound, PKR appreciated by 2.02 rupees or 0.53% to 379.82 compared to 381.84 a day ago.

The local unit appreciated 2.15 rupees or 0.63% against Swiss franc to close at 339.99.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value strengthened 2.14 paisa or 1.09% to close the session at 1.9422 versus 1.9636 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee deteriorated 1.61 paisa or 0.04% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.24 from 39.22.

The local currency appreciated by 3.17 paisa or 0.04% against Saudi Riyal to 75.20. While it gained by 2.83 paisa or 0.04% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.80.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has weakened against the US Dollar by 3.73 rupees or 1.32%. While it has deteriorated 3.52 rupees or 1.25% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates fell by 16bps to 10.97% and 11.22%.
