PKR loses 5 paisa against USD

December 04, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) fell by 5.41 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 277.92 per USD, compared to previous closing of 277.87.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 277.85 and a low (ask) of 277.85.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 277.3 for buying and 278.95 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR deteriorated 16.81 paisa or 0.06% against the Euro, closing at 292.14 compared to the previous value of 291.97.

Against the British Pound, PKR weakened by 51.32 paisa or 0.15% to 352.71 compared to 352.20 a day ago.

The local unit depreciated 16.71 paisa or 0.05% against Swiss franc to close at 313.49.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value rose 0.39 paisa or 0.21% to close the session at 1.8465 versus 1.8504 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee decreased 6.02 paisa or 0.16% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.21 from 38.15.

The local currency weakened by 0.95 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 73.96. While it depreciated by 1.68 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.67.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has appreciated against the US Dollar by 41.84 paisa or 0.15%. While it has gained 3.94 rupees or 1.42% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 2bps to 12.30% and 12.55%.
