PKR loses 47 paisa against greenback in intraday

January 23, 2023 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) continued its downward journey as the currency lost 47 paisa against the US dollar during intraday trade compared to the previous closing of PKR 229.67 per USD.
The local unit was quoted at PKR 229.97/230.22 [11:04 PST] with the trades being reported at 230 per USD while in the open market, PKR is being traded at 237/241 per USD.
Since the last previous seven sessions, the domestic unit remained under pressure as no immediate measures were taken by the government to resolve the deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Local unit have depreciated over three rupees or 1.5% since CY23 began.
