PKR falls 10 paisa per USD

May 22, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) deteriorated by 9.61 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 282.06 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 281.97.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 282.00 and a low (ask) of 282.00.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 282.50 for buying and 284.00 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR appreciated 1.80 paisa or 0.01% against the Euro, closing at 319.37 compared to the previous value of 319.38.

Against the British Pound, PKR deteriorated by 74.94 paisa or 0.20% to 378.83 compared to 378.08 a day ago.

The local unit rose 9.08 paisa or 0.03% against Swiss franc to close at 341.98.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value fell 1.27 paisa or 0.65% to close the session at 1.9716 versus 1.9589 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee depreciated 2.53 paisa or 0.06% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.15 from 39.12.

The local currency weakened by 2.36 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 75.20. While it fell by 2.41 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.79.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has weakened against the US Dollar by 3.72 rupees or 1.32%. While it has depreciated 3.51 rupees or 1.25% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates remain unchanged at 11.14% and 11.39%.
