PKR drops 8 paisa per USD

May 26, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) deteriorated by 8.40 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 282.06 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 281.97.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 282.05 and a low (ask) of 282.05.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 283.00 for buying and 284.15 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR weakened 1.60 rupees or 0.50% against the Euro, closing at 321.35 compared to the previous value of 319.74.

Against the British Pound, PKR decreased by 2.52 rupees or 0.66% to 382.71 compared to 380.18 a day ago.

The local unit weakened 2.12 rupees or 0.62% against Swiss franc to close at 343.36.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value deteriorated 0.78 paisa or 0.40% to close the session at 1.9746 versus 1.9668 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee decreased 3.46 paisa or 0.09% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.26 from 39.23.

The local currency deteriorated by 2.84 paisa or 0.04% against Saudi Riyal to 75.20. While it weakened by 2.07 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.79.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has fell against the US Dollar by 3.72 rupees or 1.32%. While it has decreased 3.51 rupees or 1.24% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1bps to 11.13% and 11.38%.
