PKR depreciates by 1.39 rupees against USD

August 30, 2023 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 1.39 rupees against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session as the currency settled the trade at PKR 304.445 per USD, compared to the previous session's closing of PKR 303.052 per USD.

The currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 304.75 and a low (ask) of 304.6.

In the open market, Exchange Companies quoted the dollar at 320 for buying and 323 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR lost 3.21 rupees against the Euro, closing at 330.78 compared to the previous value of 327.57.

The British Pound became more expensive by 2.73 rupees closing at 384.834 compared to 382.103 from a day ago.

The Swiss franc saw gains of 3.65 rupees, closing at 346.118 compared to 342.471 from the previous session.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR lost 1.13 paisa, closing at 2.0789 versus 2.0676 a day ago.

The Chinese Yuan gained 18.64 paisa, closing at 41.747 against 41.561 from the previous session.

The Saudi Riyal increased in value by 37.35 paisa from 82.516 a day ago to 82.890.

The U.A.E Dirham closed at 81.1583 with a gain of 36.91 paisa from its value of 80.789 a day ago.

During the current financial year, PKR has depreciated against the Dollar by 18.45 rupees or 6.06%. While the current calendar year has seen PKR depreciate by 78.01 rupees or 25.63%.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1 bps to 22.9% and 23.15%.
