PKR appreciates by 10 paisa against USD

May 15, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) rose by 10.19 paisa or 0.04% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.61 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 281.72.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 281.75 and a low (ask) of 281.60.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 282.50 for buying and 283.75 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR increased 57.89 paisa or 0.18% against the Euro, closing at 315.35 compared to the previous value of 315.93.

Against the British Pound, PKR increased by 1.75 rupees or 0.47% to 373.66 compared to 375.42 a day ago.

The local unit rose 10.16 paisa or 0.03% against Swiss franc to close at 336.08.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value deteriorated 1.35 paisa or 0.70% to close the session at 1.9303 versus 1.9168 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee gained 1.27 paisa or 0.03% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.06 from 39.07.

The local currency rose by 2.92 paisa or 0.04% against Saudi Riyal to 75.08. While it appreciated by 2.67 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.67.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has fell against the US Dollar by 3.27 rupees or 1.16%. While it has depreciated 3.06 rupees or 1.09% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 3bps to 11.16% and 11.41%.
