PIBTL suffers major setback after terminal fire

December 04, 2024 (MLN): Pakistan International Bulk Terminal Limited (PSX: PIBTL) announced today that its infrastructure has suffered significant damage due to a serious fire incident at the terminal during the discharge of coal cargo.

In a notice to its customers, the company stated that the fire occurred due to circumstances beyond PIBT’s reasonable control, causing significant damage to a portion of the terminal and partially affecting its ability to fulfill its obligations.

PIBTL further disclosed that inquiries are being conducted by the appointed surveyors to ascertain the actual cause of the fire.

The company emphasized that this unfortunate incident occurred without any fault on PIBT’s part, despite its best efforts to ensure safety at the terminal.

"In light of the foregoing, PIBT's ability to discharge cargo at the Terminal on behalf of its customers has been temporarily affected and may unfortunately cause delay in discharging cargo," the notice further remarked.
