Pakistan’s Weekly SPI increases by 0.2 percent

September 14, 2018 (MLN): As per the data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the Weekly SPI for the combined group has increased by 0.2% as compared to the prior week (September 6, 2018), and increased by 2.66% as compared to the same period last year (September 14, 2017).

Of the 53 items that have been monitored, the average prices of 13 items increased, 13 items decreased while that of 27 items remained unchanged.

SPI for the lowest income group increased by 0.23% over the index published on September 6th 2018. Meanwhile, in contrast with the corresponding period of last year, SPI for the lowest income group registered an increase of 1.61%, which is the lowest increase on a year-on-year basis, compared to the other income groups.

On a year-on-year basis, the largest increase in SPI has been recorded for the highest income group (above Rs.35, 000), that of about 3.46%
