Pakistan’s weekly SPI increases by 0.14%

September 19, 2018 (MLN): The weekly SPI for the combined group has increased by 0.14% as compared to the prior week (September 13th 2018), and by 2.17% as compared to the same period last year (September 21st 2018), according to official statistics released by the Pakistan bureau of Statistics (PBS).

Of the 53 items that have been monitored, the average prices of 14 items registered an increase, 11 items registered a decreased while the average prices of 28 items remained unchanged.

SPI for the lowest income group increased by 0.10% over the index published prior week (September 13th). In contrast, SPI for the lowest income group as compared to the corresponding period of last year, increased by 0.99%, which is the lowest year-on-year increase as compared to other income groups. 

The largest increase in SPI, YoY has been recorded for the largest income group (above Rs.35000), that of about 3.03%.
