Pakistan Stock Exchange falls 0.97%

The index closed below the 40000 level after witnessing a significant downfall throughout the day. The index at the worst fell below the 39500 points as the pressure continues to mount on the economy. Political pressures and weak fundamentals have left investors yearning for any positive sentiment from the market.

In the international markets, the oil price rebounded after significant draws in the Crude inventories. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude was at $50.94 per barrel at 0500 GMT, up 34 cents, or 0.7 percent, from their last settlement and Brent was at $56.59, up 34 cents, or 0.6 percent.

According to latest PBS Data Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator down by 0.72% from last week (05-10-17). Whereas, year-on-year change was +1.96% during the year.

KSE-100 Index at the day end lost a total of -390.75 points down by 0.97%, closing at 39846.78 points. Index Volume was 78.93 million shares, value of shares traded was PKR 5.78 billion with index low-high range of 39478.05 – 40237.53.
