March 19, 2025 (MLN): The latest safety technologies and improved emergency preparedness are essential to ensuring a secure travel environment for passengers, as emphasized by Federal Minister for Railways, Mr. Hanif Abbasi.

In a high-level meeting at the Ministry of Railways attended by all major stakeholders, he reiterated these priorities while addressing key challenges in Pakistan Railways and discussing strategies for future improvements.

He also noted that introducing modern and comfortable trains will encourage passengers to choose Pakistan Railways as their preferred mode of travel.

The session focused on reviewing the current operations of Pakistan Railways, identifying issues, and devising strategies to enhance efficiency, as per the press release issued today.

During the meeting, the Minister closely examined the operational aspects of Pakistan Railways, including train scheduling, passenger services, technical operations, and safety protocols.

He stressed the importance of ensuring a seamless and efficient operational flow, with a strong focus on eliminating delays in train arrivals and departures.

Calling for a collective effort from all stakeholders, he urged railway authorities to maintain punctuality and high service standards.

Passenger safety remained a key priority in the discussion, with Mr. Abbasi emphasizing the need for enhanced security measures across railway stations and onboard trains to prevent any untoward incidents.

He also highlighted the necessity of upgrading railway infrastructure, particularly modernizing tracks, stations, and rolling stock, to provide smoother and faster services.

The Minister underscored the importance of customer service, urging railway staff to maintain professionalism, courtesy, and effective communication with passengers.

He stressed that travelers should be well-informed about train timings, delays, and service interruptions in a timely manner.

In addition to passenger services, Mr. Abbasi also pointed out the economic potential of Pakistan Railways.

He encouraged officials to explore new revenue streams through public-private partnerships, improved freight services, and the development of tourism-based railway services.

He noted that with its extensive network and historical significance, Pakistan Railways could serve as a key driver of economic growth and social development.

In his concluding remarks, Mr. Hanif Abbasi emphasized that Pakistan Railways should strive to become a model of excellence, recognized for its reliability, punctuality, and commitment to passenger safety.

He called for a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to transform Pakistan Railways into a modern and efficient transportation system that caters to the evolving needs of the people.
