Pakistan adopts NDC plan to cut GHG emissions by 50%

November 02, 2023 (MLN): Pakistan has adopted an ambitious Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) plan to cut Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 50%, Dr Shamshad Akthar, the caretaker Finance Minister highlighted on Thursday during the Keynote speech at the UNCTAD conference titled "Development Finance for 2030 Agenda: Environmentally Safe Industrialization."
In order to adopt the Green Industry practices, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the Security Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) have issued guidelines, she further informed.
Dr Shamshad Akhtar also stressed the need for global action to accelerate investment in SDGs while tackling debt distress in developing economies.
