Opening Bell: Investors Wake Up on the Wrong Side of the Bed

May 10, 2023 (MLN): The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) kicked off today’s session on a negative note as investors woke up on the wrong side of the bed given the current political turmoil.

As of now, the benchmark KSE-100 Index lost 165.72 points [9:49 AM] and the index is being traded at 41,208.29.

Commercial Banks, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies, Power Generation & Distribution Companies, and Fertilizers have witnessed higher selling activity as they have lost around 45, 28, 17, and 12 points respectively.

Company-wise, the scrips of HMB, MEBL, HBL, MARI, SYS, and POL have endured the maximum losses.

The negativity stemmed from the negative news flows as per which Chairman PTI Imran Khan has been arrested by the Rangers in the Al-Qadir Trust case from outside Islamabad High Court.

Following his arrest, major cities have become the victim of vandalism as the law and order situation has completely deteriorated.
