October 8, 2020 (MLN): The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased Rs. 0.83 per unit in the power tariff on Thursday.

The power tariff has been increased by the authority on account of variation in fuel charges for the month of July 2020.

According to the notice issued by the authority, the fuel adjustment charges for the month of July 2020, would be charged in October bills.

“The above adjustment shall be applicable to all the consumer categories except lifeline consumers of all the XWDISCOs (Ex-Wapda Distribution Companies),” the notification said.

It further added that the said adjustment shall be shown separately in the consumers’ bills on the basis of units billed to the consumer in the month of July 2020 by the XWDISCOs.

The NEPRA gave its approval after hearing a request filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) that sought an increase of Rs. 0.83 in electricity tariffs.
