Muhammad Asim appointed as President CFA Society Pakistan

September 30, 2024 (MLN): The CFA Society Pakistan has appointed Muhammad Asim, CFA who currently serves as the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at MCB Funds Management Ltd as President of the Society.

Managing over Rs375 billion in assets at MCB Funds, Asim brings extensive experience, having previously served as President from 2018-2021.

His expertise in investment management is expected to steer society towards continued excellence in fostering the highest standards in the finance profession across Pakistan.

Under Asim's leadership, the CFA Society Pakistan is poised to enhance its impact on the local financial landscape, promoting professional development, and upholding the ethics that define CFA charterholders globally.

Asim has industry experience of nearly two decades and has served as Chief Investment Officer at MCB Funds for over a decade.

Asim holds a meticulous performance track record and has proven expertise in both Equity and Fixed Income markets. He has managed funds in both active and passive strategies with varying mixes of both asset classes. Asim’s investment approach is macro-driven and advises clients on long-term asset allocation.

Asim has also served as President of CFA Society Pakistan for 3 years since 2018 and was recognized by CFA Institute, USA as APAC Volunteer of the Year in 2020.

He did MBA in Finance and holds a CFA Charter. He also attended Harvard University's Investment Management Workshop in 2018.

The flagship equity fund under his watch has generated an alpha of 3% p.a. against the KSE-100 index over 16 years ending June 2024.

The Government Bond Fund of MCB Funds has the highest cumulative return among peers over the last 10 years ending June 2024.
