April 8, 2019 (MLN): Finance Minister Asad Umar has said that the talks with International Monetary Fund (IMF) are in their final stage. Following the closure, the loan deal numbers will be shared, he added.

Regarding the Policy Framework, he said it has been prepared and shared with IMF, as well as sent to committees of Parliament and Senate.

Shedding some light on the ongoing economic issues, the minister said that Pakistan has three main problems on economic fronts, pertaining to revenue collection, exports and investments. These three chronic issues have haunting Pakistan since decades, he added

He further rejoiced that Pakistan has moved out from the crisis phase into the stabilization phase. He also informed that the economy would be consolidated in the next 18 months.

Moreover, he said that the amount of Rs 800 billion which the government is paying was actually interest payment on debts, rather than debt payments.

He also said that FBR has been advised to formulate easy income tax returns forms and simplify the tax system with lesser questions. Furthermore, he said that the government will be bringing a new tax amnesty scheme very soon.
