March cars sales up by 3.7 percent reaching 18,988 units: PAMA

A total of 18,988 passenger car units were sold during the month of March, 2018 increasing by 3.6 percent (YoY) taking the cumulative nine month sales up to 161,371 units; a record 15.62 percent growth.

Month on month, Honda Atlas Cars sales jumped highest after the HCAR expanded their production capacities increasing by 41 percent, Pak Suzuki Motors (PSMC) reported stale sales which grew by meagre 4 percent due to a high base effect. However, Indus Motor Company (INDU) sales however, fell by 2 percent.

Cumulative passenger car sales during the nine months of current fiscal year reached 161,371 units increasing by 15.62 percent. The auto industry in Pakistan is currently going through a growth phase as middle class consumers share of the market continues to rise amidst the ease of financing from commercial banks.

Furthermore, Total Trucks sold during the nine month period also grew by more than 27.7 percent reaching 6,796 units up from 5,321 units during the same period last year. Month on month, Truck sales also posted a 29 percent jump in sales up from 723 units in February to 937 in March.

In other categories, Total number of sales in Jeeps grew by a phenomenal 1093 percent during the first nine months of fiscal. With major sales number coming in from Honda BR – V sales which has sold a total of 6,939 units during the cumulative time period.

In the Tractor category, sales have continuously risen in the last nine months; 35 percent up from 38,620 units in July – Mar to 52,260 units in July – Mar current fiscal year.
