May 12, 2025 (MLN): Continuing its remarkable upward trajectory, the benchmark KSE-100 Index surged to an intraday high of 117,229.03, recording a phenomenal gain of 10,054 points or 9.38% during Monday’s trading session.

As of the latest update, the index is trading at 117,139.67, reflecting strong investor sentiment and market confidence.

This sharp rally marks one of the most significant intraday gains in PSX history, with the market soaring on the back of renewed optimism, improved macroeconomic outlook, and aggressive buying across the board.

This strong upward momentum follows a turbulent week, during which the market witnessed a sharp sell-off driven by escalating geopolitical tensions in the region, particularly between Pakistan and India.

This strong surge is on the back of strengthening investors' sentiments on the ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India and the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) approval of $2.4 billion in funding.

The truce, easing regional tensions, has coincided with positive developments on the economic front. The IMF Executive Board approved the immediate disbursement of a $1bn tranche under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF), while also greenlighting an additional $1.4bn for climate resilience support.

Top gainers during the day are YOUW (+17.13%), CNERGY (+15.58%), PIBTL (+13.12%), KEL (+12.97%), and BOP (+10.97%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were FFC (+963.66pts), UBL (+667.71pts), ENGROH (+487.45pts), MARI (+464.00pts), and LUCK (+451.07pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Commercial Banks (+2436.92pts), Fertilizer (+1380.94pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+1358.70pts), Cement (+1037.60pts), and Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+522.65pts).
