K-Electric revises electricity tariffs for coming months

May 29, 2019 (MLN):  K-Electric has issued a notification in which it revises electricity tariffs with effective from June 1st 2019.

According to the notification, general supply tariff for residential purpose, the tariff for sectioned load less than 5 KW  i.e. for up to 50 units has been revised to Rs 2/KWh from Rs4/KWh,  whereas, for consumption exceeding 50 units i.e for 1-100 units,  the rate has been revised  to Rs 5.79/ KWh from Rs 11.65/ KWh, for 101-200 units, the tariff decreased to Rs 8.11/KWh from Rs 13.05/ KWh.

Similarly, for those consuming 201-300 units, it reduced to Rs 10.2/ KWh from Rs 13.55/ KWh, whereas, for consuming 301-700 units and above 700 units it has been increased to Rs17.6/ KWh and Rs 20.7/KWH from Rs15.66/KWh and Rs 17.93/ KWH respectively.

While the tariffs for those who consume 5 KW and above has been increased as during the peak hours (Apr- Oct: 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm, Nov- March: 6:00pm to 10:00pm) and non-peak hours, they will now be charged Rs20.7/ KWH and Rs14.38/ KWH against Rs18.93/KWH and Rs 12.93/ KWH charging previously.

The general supply tariff for commercial purpose has been decreased to Rs18/ KWH from Rs18.43/ KWH for those who consume less than 5 KW, however, for those who consume 5 KW and above, the tariff increased to Rs 19.68/ KWH from 15.63/ KWH.

Furthermore, for industrial supply, the tariff for those who consume up to 5000 KW (at 11, 33 kv) has been decreased to Rs 12.5 from Rs 13.13, and during the peak hours it has been cut to Rs15.78/ KWH from Rs18.43/KWH. Correspondingly, for all loads up to 5000 KW (at 66, 132 kv), the tariff has been lessened to Rs 12/ KWH from Rs12.73/KWH and during the peak hours it has been reduced to Rs15.78/ KWH from Rs17.93/ KWH.

During the off- peak hours the tariff charges have been decreased to Rs 9.98/KWH and Rs 9.88/ KWH respectively.

For agriculture sector, the tariff has been revised to Rs 5.35/ KWH, which was Rs14.53/ KWH earlier. During the peak and off- peak hours for all loads, the same amount will be charged against charges of Rs20.53/ KWH and Rs 12.53/KWH respectively before revision.
